FOREHEAD AESTHETICS

Although some of them start in youth and most of them start with aging, the forehead area can present us with many different aesthetic problems. Under this heading, we will talk about the aesthetic problems of the forehead area and their solutions.

One of the first signs of aging is wrinkles on our forehead. While these wrinkles, which do not catch our eyes at first, appear only when we mimic (static wrinkles), they continue to be there even without mimicry. It is possible to solve these wrinkles by applying Botulinum Toxin to the forehead and interbrow muscles (frontalis, procerus and corrugator muscles) in the first period they appear. Botulinum treatment is applied approximately every 6 months and prevents these wrinkles from settling on the face. In other words, it both treats and removes wrinkles and also serves as a preventive measure in the future.

However, skin that is not well cared for, not treated with Botulinum and not well moisturized returns to the same wasteland. At a certain age, these wrinkles are settled in the form of transverse stripes and this time it is more difficult to treat. These wrinkles no longer give the desired response to Botulinum Toxin and do not pass. In this case, we try to pass the lines by filling under these lines with substances compatible with the body, which we call "hyaluronic acid filling". In addition, we apply subcutaneous "mesotherapy" to improve the skin quality on the forehead.

If the forehead muscles are very strong, the forehead is very wrinkled and does not respond to filling-mesotherapy and other treatments, aesthetic surgery comes into play at this stage and we try to achieve the wrinkle-free, flat and youthful appearance we want by applying "Forehead Lift" surgery.

Forehead Lift Surgery

In forehead lift surgery, the hair-forehead junction is entered in order to keep the scar as hidden as possible. By entering under the forehead area, the wrinkles here are opened and the skin is loosened and the forehead is stretched upwards. (When the sensory nerves in the forehead area pass here, there may be a loss of sensation that returns after a while after the procedure).  If the forehead is too narrow (the longitudinal distance between the hair and the eye), the forehead can be widened and relaxed by moving the hairline upwards with this procedure. The excess part of the stretched part is removed and the skin is sutured.

Forehead lifting is a face-lifting surgery applied to people with such dense wrinkles. The recovery period is around 10-14 days. Other advantages of this procedure are that while the forehead is stretched, the underlying muscles are also intervened, allowing the wrinkles to be opened well and allowing the brow lift if necessary. Forehead lift patients are discharged on the same day unless it is performed in conjunction with another surgery requiring hospitalization or if there is no other condition requiring hospitalization. The dressing in the forehead area is opened on the 3rd day and they can wash. There may be numbness, pain and tingling in the forehead area for a while after the procedure. In general, it is not a very painful procedure. Pain in the first few days is normal and can be alleviated with painkillers. After the forehead lift, it is recommended to sleep with the head elevated for a week (with a few pillows or on an inclined surface).  In the postoperative period, the forehead is significantly free of wrinkles.

Treatment of Forehead Stenosis

We mentioned a little bit about forehead lift above, but let's go over it again. If the vertical distance between the hairline and the eyes is close to each other, we call this a narrow forehead (this is a condition that we usually encounter in people with very dense hair). Here, we aim to open the forehead, freshen the face and beautify the expression. Forehead enlargement is achieved by releasing the forehead skin and lifting it upwards and lifting the hairline 1-2 centimeters upwards. The above-mentioned points apply regarding the surgery and its aftermath.

Treatment of Forehead Width

Forehead width is often a problem for men and sometimes for women. In men, the forehead area opens up due to hair loss and the hairline goes backwards. Similar types of hair loss can also occur in women, but the condition in women is usually structural, that is, individuals who have an open forehead due to their nature. In the past, major surgeries were performed in such cases, the scalp was expanded with balloons and balding areas were closed, and many incisions and wounds were formed on the scalp.

Today, the treatment of this problem is hair transplantation, which Turkey is leading in the world. In short, it is the process of taking hair follicles from the back and transplanting them to the balding areas in the front.

Treatment of Forehead Flatness

From the side profile, the striking facial elements are the chin and lips at the bottom, the nose in the middle and the forehead at the top. A curved round forehead is a symbol of babyishness. When we look at many celebrities, we see that their foreheads are curved either by birth or plastic surgery. Therefore, by applying stem cell-rich fat injection to the forehead, we eliminate the flatness of the forehead and create a more rounded and attractive forehead and profile. In addition, this curvature of the forehead also softens the feeling of transition at the root of the nose and enriches and increases the visual success of the surgery when applied simultaneously with rhinoplasty.
